this is a couch that will be featured as part of a vignette that terrence is working on. the material for the couch is hand printed and upholstered with throw pillows designed by the artist.

Nest: An Exhibtion Of Living October 17th - 19th 2008 @ 8000 Westwood Hills Dr, St Louis Park, MN
Minneapolis artists Amy Rice And Terrence Payne, in collaboration with Sotheby's real estate group, announce the opening of their first joint exhibition entitled Nest. The artists will be translating the imagery and patterns from their 2d works and rendering them into the physical world by applying them to textiles, furniture and other home furnishings in order to outfit a living space provided by Sotheby’s Realty. The result will translate a conventional living environment into a colorful and fantastic installation for the viewer to experience and move through, essentially becoming a part of the work itself. Amy Rice is a Minneapolis artist who for the past 8 years has primarily used stencils she designs and cuts herself as the starting point for her mixed media works on a vast variety of mediums ranging from large found objects to antique love letters. She has exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and in the UK, has been featured in nationally distributed art and design magazines and recently in the book “Stencil Nation”.
Terrence creates pastel drawings and silk screen prints out of a desire to glean the earnest beauty which results from the clumsy actions of humanity in everyday life. He takes the good days and the bad which accumulate to the sum of our character and presents them to his viewer with an appreciation which makes it easier to understand our own lives through the experiences of others. Terrence Payne has lived and worked in the Minneapolis area for the past fourteen years, building a body of unique and thought provoking work while exhibiting at galleries and universities throughout the midwest. His work can be found in private, corporate and collegiate collections nationally and internationally.
